John O'Brien - Broker Associate
I started my real estate career in Wisconsin with Shorewest Realtors in 2015. Similar to
Baird and Warner they are a multi generation family owned realtor with a rich history in the
Milwaukee community. Located in Lake Geneva I built may career around seasonal and
weekend homes with many of my clients coming from the Chicago area. With the
recommendation of so many of these clients I recently added Illinois to my real estate repertoire. And so here I am, now a broker with Baird and Warner in the Lincoln Park office, close to my residence in East Lakeview.
Before real estate my background was in architecture and construction. I have a BFA in
Interior Architecture from Northern Illinois University and my MA in Historic Preservation from
Savannah College of Art and Design. Because of this background I am able to walk my clients through any property demonstrating to them the potential of the subject property’s current value or future potential as their “dream home.”
Another trait I take from my previous life is my ability to work with a variety of
personalities. Though the years in the corporate world I gained responsibility to the level of
senior management. This allowed me the opportunity to work with various levels of
responsibility in multiple large organizations.
Sellers have an emotional attachment to their homes and sometimes this can
overshadow their decision making when selling. My job is to remove that emotion and guide
them to making the right decision as to what it will take to sell their home.
Similarly, buyers experience these same roadblocks. My job is to weigh the pros and
cons for each home they preview so in the end, they've reached the best decision when it
comes to that perfect home. Also, like most people, I love a good value. This comes into play when presenting an educated offer that is the best for my client and their chosen home.
So whether you’re in the market to sell your home or buy a new home or possibly both, I
would welcome the opportunity to work with you in what is possibly the biggest decision you will make in your lifetime.
